Frequently asked questions

What training did you receive? Are you certified?
I was trained and worked in the hospital setting for seven years as an inpatient OB registered nurse. I have an abundance of experience in labor and delivery, postpartum, nursery, and high-risk antepartum. I received my doula training through BEST doula services.

Do you attend all hospital births? Home births? Are there any birth centers you don’t go to?
Wherever you choose to give birth, I’ll follow you within a 60-mile radius.

Do you meet with me after the birth to review the labor and answer questions?
Yes, we will set up a time to meet within the first two weeks postpartum

When will you be on call for my birth?
I will be on call starting at 38 weeks, giving me a two-hour time frame to get to you. If you go into labor before that, I can still be there; it just might take a little longer to find childcare. If you have a known induction date or something changes, let me know ASAP.

How would you describe your doula ‘style’?
My style as a doula is supporting you in whatever way you need. I am not here to push my views onto you. I am here to listen to you and your birth plan. I am here to make sure you understand all options on the table. That’s it.

What happens to my fee if, for instance, I need an emergency c-section and labor support is no longer needed?
Unforeseen circumstances will be evaluated on a case-to-case basis.
